1. Overview of BeiDou-GPS Satellite Synchronisation
GPS is the global satellite navigation and positioning system developed by the United States, representing the world's earliest and most mature satellite navigation system.
BeiDou is China's independently developed global satellite navigation and positioning system, currently providing worldwide coverage.
Satellite navigation and positioning systems deliver high-precision, all-weather navigation, positioning, and timing services with outstanding timing performance; they offer high accuracy, low cost, and secure reliability; and provide all-weather coverage with extensive reach.
The standard time information generated by satellite-synchronised clocks has become one of the fundamental support platforms for sectors including telecommunications, power supply, broadcasting, scientific research, security monitoring, and industrial control.

Satellite clocks are also fundamental timing application products developed based on the latest high-precision positioning and timing modules for satellites. They can output time information formats compliant with specifications according to user requirements, thereby providing synchronised timing services. Satellite synchronisation clocks primarily utilise highly stable frequency information obtained by disciplining an OCXO or rubidium clock with satellite signals, alongside locally recovered, more stable time reference signals.
2. Application Scope of BeiDou/GPS Satellite Synchronisation Clocks
(1) Various time synchronisation systems acquiring standard time via satellite synchronisation;
(2) Computer networks, computer application systems, and process control management systems;
(3) Time unification systems and various time display screens for power plants (stations) and grid dispatch centres;
(4) E-commerce systems, B2B online platforms, and database preservation/maintenance systems;
(5) Applications across power generation, finance, mobile communications, petroleum, electricity, transportation, industry, and national defence sectors.
3. Advantages and Disadvantages of BeiDou-GPS Synchronisation
Advantages: Satellite time synchronisation offers high precision at low cost. GPS synchronisation currently represents the most technically mature and cost-effective synchronisation solution. As GPS is a satellite navigation system controlled by the US military, BeiDou timing solutions are generally adopted in sectors critical to national economy and people's livelihood, as well as in defence applications.
Disadvantages: Requires reception of satellite signals and installation of external antennas. Not suitable for indoor slave clocks. Indoor slave clocks typically employ alternative methods to obtain time from satellite-synchronised master clocks.
